High school literacy coach, reading specialist, educator, mom, and grammar nerd

Secondary Reading is my Passion

I received a BA in elementary education from Southern New Hampshire University, a Master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from Keene State College, and Reading Specialist certification from Granite State College. I also received Level I Orton-Gillingham certification from Children’s Dyslexia Center in Nashua, NH.

Teaching literacy and English in a high-school setting for the past decade has helped me to understand how few research-based instructional resources are available for this very vulnerable population of students. Those resources that are available can be too expensive for a school district or individual educator to purchase, and often come in the form of programming. Those of us who work with secondary students know all too well that there is not always time for programming, and we often teach groups of students with different needs, rendering a single program ineffective. This site is meant to partially fill a gap: research-based instructional and assessment resources that are freely available to anyone who works with students. My goal is to eliminate the difficult decision many school districts and educators face between quality resources and resources we can implement in our secondary reality. Here’s to both!
